Brittain, Miller (1912-1968)

A trained artist, Brittain enlisted in the RCAF in 1942. He served as a bomb aimer in 78 Squadron, Bomber Command, completing 37 operational sorties in Halifaxes. Awarded the DFC, from 1945 to 1946 he served as an official war artist. Clearly affected by his war experiences, his mature work is profoundly spiritual.
