Poster produced by the American Red Cross in 1918 depicting a medic applying a tourniquet to an injured soldier. The poster explains that all soldiers should know how to apply a tourniquet to prevent unnecessary deaths from haemorrhage. Helmets on rifles spiked into the ground served as markers to stretcher-bearers indicating that a wounded soldier needed treatment.
