A German prisoner of war in Amherst, Nova Scotia built this model submarine of the German U-Boat U-27. HMS Baralong, a British Q-ship – a warship disguised as a harmless merchant vessel – sank U-27 on 19 August 1915. The Baralong's commander ordered the German survivors to be shot in the water.
