Canadian soldiers welcome the opening of a new YMCA canteen, located in an abandoned, bombed out building. The YMCA was much loved by soldiers as it provided food and drink, as well as a place to write a letter or read. While this YMCA is in a village or city, YMCA stalls very close to the front offered hot drinks to soldiers entering or leaving the trench system.
