Artist Residency Program – Online Application

Back to Artist Residency Program

Application Deadline: September 29, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

The Canadian War Museum is inviting emerging artists in Canada of any age to apply for its Artist Residency Program (ARP). The successful artist — or artists, if part of a collective — will collaborate with the War Museum on the creation of new art in conjunction with the upcoming special exhibition, Outside the Lines. Working with the Museum’s exhibition team, the successful applicant(s) will engage with the Museum’s renowned war art and military collections while conceiving and creating a new work of art.

The artist(s) selected for the 2023–2024 ARP will reflect upon themes and messages in the exhibition, and their work will be displayed as part of the exhibition itself. The exhibition may travel.

Artists will be given funding to cover 12 weeks of working time, to be conducted off site at a location of their choosing, within the 20-week period between December 1, 2023 and April 26, 2024.

The program team will contact the top five applicants for follow-up interviews by November 1, 2023.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email at artistresidencyprogram@warmuseum.ca. All questions must be received by September 22, 2023, no later than 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Personal information collected through the online form is protected under the Privacy Act.
