Toward the 21st Century
Progress in technology is creating new opportunities in electoral management. At the same time, the evolution of Canadian society is placing new demands on the electoral system. Elections Canada is paying attention as it continues to look for ways to make the electoral process more effective and more accessible to Canadians. A prime example is the publication of extensive electoral information and election results on the Internet. Computer technology is also revolutionizing many operational and administrative activities, like electoral mapmaking, financial management and reporting, and registering electors.
