Randy Bachman was born in Winnipeg in 1943. As a member of The Guess Who, with Garry Peterson, Bob Ashley and Chad Allan (replaced in 1966 by Burton Cummings), Bachman became a key figure in the development of the Canadian rock music scene in the 1960s. In the 1970s he helped form Brave Belt and, with musicians Robbie Bachman, Tim Bachman and Fred Turner, he formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive which became one of the world's most accomplished rock bands of the decade.
