Rochefort joined the Canadian militia as a private in 1929 and was commissioned in 1939. Most of his Second World War work was with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. For this he was made a Member, Order of the British Empire. He was also Mentioned in Despatches for Second World War and Korean War activities. Following his retirement from the army in 1965 he became Commissioner of the Canadian Red Cross Society (Quebec Division).
