This German propaganda poster used historical references in an attempt to persuade the Dutch people to support Germany's naval war against Great Britain.
The poster depicts a Dutch man-of-war from the 1673 victory against British and French fleets at Texel (centre) sailing alongside a German Schnellboot (motor torpedo boat) of 1943 (front). Both are heading towards a stylized London skyline surmounted by a torn Union Jack (left). The poster implies that by fighting alongside their German occupiers, the Dutch could again triumph against the British.
