Harry Mayerovitch's Communist sympathies and exposure to left-wing art movements resulted in an art style that privileged the worker, who he often rendered in heroic proportions. "What they were trying to do, among other things," he explained, "was to encourage the workers in factories, in mines and everywhere else to do their damnedest to provide what was necessary."
