MEMBERS-ONLY: FINDING FRED LEE – A SCREENING & DISCUSSION WITH THE PRODUCER, JACK GIN

Tuesday, August 15. 6 to 8 p.m.

Join us for a member- and donor-exclusive screening of the documentary Finding Fred Lee, followed by a Q&A with producer Jack Gin hosted by the Canadian War Museum’s Acting Director General, Dean Oliver.

Fred Lee was one of very few Canadians of Chinese descent to enlist and serve in the Canadian Expeditionary Force of the First World War. Lee subsequently fought at Vimy Ridge and later vanished, likely annihilated by artillery, after seeing victory in the Battle of Hill 70. A walkway at the Hill 70 Memorial in France is named after Lee.

But who was Fred Lee, and why did he matter? The documentary explores Gin’s mission to discover Lee’s past, including his family’s history, his efforts as a Rocky Mountain Ranger, his work in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, and his victory at Hill 70.

Members are welcome to bring a guest. Refreshments will be served and there will be a cash bar.
