A certificate granting Private Alfred Bolderston permission to marry Miss Rose Jeram of Reading, England. Enlisted soldiers required the permission of their superior officers to marry. Permission could, and was at times, withheld. By war's end, an estimated 15,000 Canadian war brides and children lived in the United Kingdom.
