Medal set awarded to Corporal Fred Stockdale of the 8th Canadian Infantry Battalion. This set includes the Military Medal (left), as well as his Victory Medal 1914-1919. The Military Medal was issued to warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers for individual acts of bravery in the field. Stockdale, a 39-year-old farmer from Sewel, Manitoba, was killed in battle on 15 October 1916.
