The War Kitimat was a Standard Built Ship constructed at the New Westminster Construction & Engineering Company in 1918. In order to speed production of merchant ships, the British government designed standardized hulls and engines to be built in shipyards in Britain, Canada, and the United States. All of these ships were prefixed with the name "War."
