Popularly known as a maternity jacket because the straight cut exterior flap was said to resemble maternity wear at the time, this service dress jacket once belonged to Robert Archibald Logan, the first Canadian civilian pilot to earn an officer's commission in the British Royal Flying Corps. Note the RFC wings over the left breast, the collar badges, and the three brass pips on the shoulder denoting his rank as captain. Logan was shot down in April 1917 and spent the rest of the war in German prison camps.
