An advertisement for this "really practical" manual promises a solution to any question that could possibly arise during a court-martial. As members of courts martial were usually officers without a detailed knowledge of military law, they often relied heavily on guides and manuals in determining if an accused man was guilty, and then what punishment suited the crime.
