This poster attempts to reassure veterans that pension rates will continue to depend on injuries incurred during military service, and will not be affected if a pensioner undergoes training or finds employment. Loose talk and rumours surrounding pensions, gratuities, and other forms of compensation threatened military morale and prompted a widespread government campaign to distribute proper information and ease uncertainty. Canada treated returning veterans with fairness and generosity, in relation to past efforts or current programs in other countries, but responding to veterans' concerns and complaints would become a major responsibility for federal public servants. The Canadian Board of Pension Commissioners, established in 1916, determined pension rates for returned veterans.
