The contents of this envelope were reviewed by Canadian censorship authorities. Postal censorship from overseas was enforced to ensure the secrecy of sensitive information. It also curtailed some soldiers from communicating their war experiences, as many realized that their officers, as well as those further to the rear, would be reading their mail. Mail from the home front was not censored.
