A Highland Regiment arrives in Valcartier Camp for training. There was a proud Scottish military tradition in Canada and the wearing of kilts was popular among many recruits in the newly-raised Canadian Expeditionary Force. Three of the original 17 infantry battalions of the First Contingent were kilted Highland battalions.
