This Arthur Lismer painting depicts the ocean liner, S.S. Olympic, a sister ship of the S.S. Titanic. The Olympic was armed for the duration of the war and carried over 200,000 soldiers across the Atlantic from 1914 to 1919. The colourful 'dazzle' paint design was a form of camouflage to make the vessel more difficult for German U-Boats to detect.
