This British Mk. 1 tank has the steering carriage at the back and two six-pounder guns. The steering carriage at the rear was discarded on later models because of its vulnerability to shellfire. Slow moving and prone to mechanical breakdown, the tank was useful in ploughing through fields of barbed wire and in taking on German machine-gun emplacements.
