Lieutenant-Colonel Waring Gerald Cosbie picked up this translation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar in a German trench during the Battle of Amiens in August 1918. Cosbie survived the war to become a prominent surgeon, and taught at the University of Toronto for almost 40 years.
