A jacket worn by Private Thomas Hale, an American citizen who enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Hale, originally with the 86th Battalion (Motor Gun Depot), later transferred to the Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade. The collar badge of the Motor Machine Gun Corps on the jacket collar: identical brass badges with the King's Crown over two crossed machine guns, and the word 'Canada' below. The vertical line on the left cuff is a wound stripe, that means Hale suffered one wound.
