Sir Arthur Currie and his staff cross the Rhine River at Bonn, Germany, November 1918. The Treaty of Versailles stipulated that the occupation of the Rhineland would last until 1935, but Allied troops departed five years early as a gesture of goodwill. The Canadian divisions pulled out in early 1919.
