On the back of this image is printed: "The original Eleventh crossing the pontoon bridge on the Jacques Cartier River, after a sham battle. Remount depot corral to right of bend. Sept/1914." The 11th Battalion never made it to France, as it was broken up as reinforcements to feed other infantry units in the line.
