Joseph Alphonse Hout established the Huot-Ross Rifle Company. Huot, a former employee of the Ross Rifle Company, converted the Canadian-manufactured Ross rifle into a fully automatic light machine-gun. The weapon only reached the prototype stage and was never mass produced.
