Bridal Fashion Show at the Canadian War Museum

Ottawa, Ontario, November 15, 2007 — Join us for an exclusive event on Sunday, November 25, as we showcase vintage Canadian war bride dresses alongside an exceptional collection of gowns from Justina McCaffrey Haute Couture.

From War Bride to Modern Bride, this special event will transport you back in time to explore bridal fashions from the 1940s.

You will discover some of the personal stories of love and war, and adventure and hardship behind these gowns that belonged to a handful of the 44,000 women who came to Canada at the end of the Second World War as war brides. Their stories, of finding and sometimes losing love, represent the leap of faith taken by thousands in order to build lives far from home.

Next, join us for a fabulous contemporary bridal fashion show courtesy of Justina McCaffrey, one of the top bridal wear designers in North America.

This public program is presented in conjunction with the War Museum’s special exhibition, War Brides: Portraits of an Era.
