Lifelong Learners at the Canadian War Museum
Ottawa, Ontario, January 25, 2007 — Lifelong Learners is a program for adults, which was developed as part of the Canadian War Museum’s (CWM) Building Knowledge series. Participants receive privileged access to the experts and the exhibitions during a full-day workshop.The program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Canada Under Attack: The Battle of the St. Lawrence, 1942-1944.
In the morning, participants attend a background lecture about the Battle of the St. Lawrence and visit the exhibition with CWM Second World War historian, Dr. Jeff Noakes. In the afternoon, participants have the opportunity to meet a naval veteran of the Second World War and hear about experiences at sea.

About Canada Under Attack: The Battle of the St Lawrence, 1942-1944
In the middle of the Second World War, a German submarine sinks a Canadian ship. But the attack does not occur in the mid-Atlantic, or along the shores of Europe. It happens here in the heart of Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence. Over a period of two years, German U-boats will infest the River and the Gulf, sinking more than 20 ships. Witness their impact on Canada’s small East Coast communities. The war is on their doorstep.
A travelling exhibition jointly created by the Naval Museum of Quebec and the Musée de la Gaspésie.
