Family Activity – Brilliant Buttons

Come out of hiding! Stand out by designing and creating your own original camouflage button. John McCrae Gallery.


Lecture: Seagoing Easter Eggs – Artists’ Contributions to Dazzle Ship Camouflage

Thursday, April 8 – 7 p.m.


Join us for a fast-paced, richly illustrated look at “dazzle painting,” a way of camouflaging ships by painting them in brightly coloured, abstract geometric shapes. Presented by Roy R. Behrens. In English with simultaneous translation to French. Barney Danson Theatre.


Spins and Needles

Thursday, April 8 -8 p.m. to 12 a.m.


Celebrate Spins and Needles’ fifth anniversary with a creative night out that mixes camouflage crafts and funky beats. LeBreton Gallery and John McCrae Gallery.

$10 adults, $8 students

In association with the special exhibition Camouflage: From Battlefield to Catwalk.

Join in the events commemorating our First World War service men and women. Watch the ceremonies, make a poppy wreath and learn about the First World War. Locations throughout the Museum.


Concert – Governor General’s Foot Guards Band

Sunday, April 11 – 2 p.m.


Join us for an entertaining afternoon of musical favourites and classic military tunes performed by the prestigious Band of the Governor General’s Foot Guards. LeBreton Gallery.


Lecture – On to Victory

Thursday, April 22 – 7 p.m.


To commemorate the 65th anniversary of Canada’s dramatic liberation of Holland, join author Mark Zuehlke for a special presentation of his latest book On to Victory: The Canadian Liberation of the Netherlands, March 23-May 5, 1945. With his trademark “you were there” style that draws upon official records, veterans’ memories and a keen understanding of the combat experience, Zuehlke brings to life the final chapter in the story of Canada in the Second World War. A book signing will follow. Barney Danson Theatre.

Presented in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.


Book Launch: Senator Bill Rompkey and St. John’s and the Battle of the Atlantic

Thursday, April 29 – 7 p.m.


The city of St. John’s, Newfoundland, played a critical role in the fight against Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Senator Bill Rompkey, in the introduction to his most recent book, examines the city’s part in one of the most famous battles in military history and the effect it had on the people of St. John’s. A book signing and reception will follow. Barney Danson Theatre.
