PUBLIC PROGRAMS FOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11 2010

Free admission to the Canadian War Museum and the Canadian Museum of Civilization on Remembrance Day, Thursday November 11.

Special exhibition: Opening on Remembrance Day 
The Navy: A Century in Art marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian navy. A selection of paintings from many of Canada’s leading war artists demonstrates how geography, history and war have shaped the navy through its first century of service. The works in this exhibition are drawn mainly from the Museum’s Beaverbrook Collection of War Art. They capture the diverse roles, traditions and key moments of this national institution. November 11, 2010 to March 20, 2011

Family Activities:

Remembrance Tour
This special guided tour highlights the areas of the Museum that touch on remembrance, including the Memorial Hall, Regeneration Hall and the Royal Canadian Legion Hall of Honour.
Tours leave every hour starting at 9:30 a.m.

Wreath-making
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Create a personalized poppy and add it to a wreath along with those made by other Museum visitors.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Send some cheer to Canadian Forces members who are away from their families during this holiday season. Write your own special greeting to Canadian troops serving overseas on large banners and Christmas cards.

Witnesses to History
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Visit the permanent exhibition, and meet the men and women who experienced war first-hand. Listen to the stories of veterans of the Second World War, the Korean War, and other conflicts and peace support missions.

Lecture: Highway of Heroes

Join Kathy Stinson, author of Highway of Heroes, as she pays touching tribute to Canada’s fallen soldiers and their families, and to the Canadians who line the bridges along the route they travel, to share their grief and their pride.
