L’Écho du front. Journaux de tranchées 1915–1919
It is surprising to find humour in First World War trench journals. Marcelle Cinq-Mars, archivist at Library and Archives Canada, transports us to a bygone world where black humour offers new insight into the experience of those who fought in the Great War. Barney Danson Theatre

The Artist at War: John Swope and the History of War Photography
John Swope’s photographs of Allied prisoners of war in Japan, the Japanese people, and the country’s battle-scarred landscapes bring a unique perspective to war photography in the aftermath of the Second World War. A Letter from Japan curator Carolyn Peter, who is currently director of the Laband Art Gallery at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, will discuss John Swope’s work in the context of war documentation.
