An Artist, a Mural and You!

Come add your creative inspiration to a mural started by Karole Marois, a war artist with the Canadian Forces Art Program. The artist will be in attendance February 5, 2011. John McCrae Gallery


Special Guided Tour of The Navy: A Century in Art
February 10¾6:30 p.m.
Explore this exhibition of naval art marking the 100th anniversary of the Canadian navy in greater depth. Join Dr. Dean Oliver, Director, Research and Exhibition at the Canadian War Museum on a special guided tour. Meet in the Lobby


Valentines For Vets
February 5, 6, 12 and 13¾10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A popular program returns! Create a card and write a special message for a veteran.

Snowshoe into History
February 13¾2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Discover how aboriginal technology was adapted to defend Canada during the War of 1812!  Observe a demonstration of winter warfare equipment by costumed re-enactors before joining museum animators in a hands-on interaction with replica artifacts.  Also planned: a 40-minute snowshoe trek with historical commentary beside the Ottawa River. Bring your own snowshoes or come along for a walk! North Entrance


“Military Art Now”
The First Ten Years (2001-2011) of the Canadian Forces Artists Program
February 17¾10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a must-see event for anyone interested in art or the Canadian Forces Artists Program (CFAP). In conjunction with the exhibitions The Navy: A Century in Artand Brush with War: Military Art from Korea to Afghanistan, the War Museum is bringing in artists and representatives of the CFAP for informal presentations in the morning followed by a panel discussion in the afternoon on Canadian military art in the 21st century. Atelier C and Barney Danson Theatre
