Canada Under Attack: The Battle of the St. Lawrence (1942-1944) – Walk & Talk tours at the Canadian War Museum

Ottawa, Ontario, March 16 2007 — In conjunction with Canada Under Attack: The Battle of the St. Lawrence (1942-1944), the Canadian War Museum is offering the last of its popular Walk & Talk expert tours for this exhibition. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the exhibition with Dr. Jeff Noakes, the War Museum’s Second World War historian.

About the exhibition:
In the middle of the Second World War, a German submarine sinks a Canadian ship. But the attack does not occur in the mid-Atlantic, or along the shores of Europe. It happens here, in the heart of Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence. Over a period of two years, German U-Boats will infest the River and the Gulf, sinking more than 20 ships. Witness their impact on Canada’s small East Coast communities. The war is on their doorstep.

WHAT: Canada Under Attack: Walk & Talk our with Dr. Jeff Noakes
WHEN: Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m. in English and 1 p.m. in French

About the Canadian War Museum
The Canadian War Museum is the national museum of military history, and the second most visited museum in the Nation’s Capital. It attempts to help all Canadians better understand their country’s military history in its personal, national and international dimensions. The Museum emphasizes the human experience of war to explain the impact of organized human conflict on Canada and Canadians, and how, through war, conflict, and peace support operations, Canadians have affected, and have been affected by, the world around them. Special exhibitions and programs also explore non-Canadian and general themes related to the human experience of war and the subject of armed conflict, past and present.
