King's South Africa Medal
1902
The King’s South Africa Medal was awarded to all British Empire troops, including Canadians, that had served in South Africa on or after 1 January 1902 and had completed 18 months service before 1 June 1902. Most of the 195 Canadians who received the King’s South Africa Medal were those that had chosen to remain and transfer from their original unit’s period of service to another unit serving in South Africa. The medal only had two bars authorised and they were:
South Africa 1901: Awarded for service during 1901 towards 18 months service.South Africa 1902: This bar was awarded for service in 1902.
