Memorial Plaque
1919
The Memorial Plaque was issued by the British government to the next-of-kin of all British and Commonwealth service personnel whose cause of death could be attributed to the First World War. It was made of cast bronze and designed by the British sculptor and medallist Edward Carter Preston. Each plaque was individualized with the name of the deceased regardless of rank and 1,355,000 plaques were issued, including those who had served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force.
