Canadian Efficiency Decoration
1931
The Canadian Efficiency Decoration was a long service award to commissioned officers who had served meritoriously for 20 years in the Canadian Militia (Reserves). It was also awarded to officers in the Royal Canadian Air Force Auxiliary and Reserve until superseded by the Air Efficiency Award in August 1942. A bar to the Canadian Efficiency Decoration was awarded for an additional 20 years service. One year’s service during wartime counted as double and if an officer had served in the ranks before being commissioned it counted as half. There were 3,700 awarded to Canadians and recipients were entitled to use the post-nominals E.D. The Canadian Efficiency Decoration was superseded by the Canadian Decoration in 1949.
