Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal
1899
The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal was instituted on 18 May 1899 and was awarded to all ranks serving in the volunteer or militia forces in British colonies, protectorates and the dominions for 20 years of service. Service during wartime counted for double. It was authorised for Canada in 1902 and 6,400 were awarded to Canadians before it was superseded by the Canadian Efficiency Medal in 1931.
