Alden Leonard Law was born in Brockville, Ontario, on 28 April 1892. He was the fourth of William and Almeda Law’s six children.

A driver, Law enlisted in the 24th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Victoria Rifles of Canada) on 30 March 1915, in Montréal, Quebec. He had previous military experience, having served three years in the Canadian Field Artillery. After initial training in Canada, Law was shipped to England with his unit on SS Cameronia. He left Montréal on 11 May 1915 and arrived in Devonport on 20 May 1915. After further training and preparation in England, the 24th Battalion embarked for France on 15 September 1915.

In late November 1915, Law was hospitalized for five days suffering from influenza. He was briefly hospitalized again in June 1916, this time because he had gastritis.

In late June 1916, Law was promoted to the rank of lance corporal. Three months later, in September, he would be promoted to corporal and then almost immediately promoted to lance sergeant. Law died at No. 49 Casualty Clearing Station on 4 October 1916 while being treated for a gunshot wound to the head he had received on the Somme.

Alden Leonard Law is buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay, France.
