Percy Werry was born in Darlington Township, Ontario, on 31 January 1890.

A farmer, Werry enlisted in the 136th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Durham) in Bowmanville, Ontario, on 3 January 1916. After initial training in Canada, he and his unit sailed to England on SS Corsican on 25 September 1916. The battalion disembarked in Liverpool on 6 October 1916. Upon arrival in England, it provided reinforcements to Canadian units already in the field. As a result, Werry was transferred to the 75th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Mississauga).

Werry was killed in action in France on 9 April 1917, during the Battle of Vimy Ridge, and his body was lost.

Percy Werry is commemorated on the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, on Vimy Ridge, in France.
