Mason Francis Scott was born in Prescott, Ontario, on 21 March 1898.

A school teacher, Scott enlisted in the 94th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Fort William, Ontario, on 1 March 1916. He was shipped to England and arrived there on 6 July 1916. While in England, he was transferred to the 32nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (Manitoba) and then to the 28th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Northwest).

Scott was diagnosed with lymphangitis, an inflammation of the lymphatic system, on 26 June 1918. He returned to Canada at the end of the year and was discharged from service on 24 January 1919. Scott died of tuberculosis on 23 September 1919. Military authorities attributed his death to his war service.

Mason Francis Scott is buried in Maynard Cemetery, Prescott, Ontario.
