Community Activities and Road Closures

Canada Day, July 1, 2024

The Canadian War Museum will be open on July 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is free. Tickets are required.

Canada Day 2024 festivities are taking place mainly at LeBreton Flats Park. Please follow signage on site to access the Museum.

The Kichi Zībī Mīkan Parkway and Booth Street will be closed to vehicles from 6 a.m. on July 1 until 2 a.m. on July 2. The Chaudière Bridge will also be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.

Parking at the Museum will be closed to visitors. We encourage you to bike or use public transit. Pedestrians and cyclists will have access to the Museum during this period, as directed by Ottawa Police and signage on site.

Please allow extra time to get to the Museum, as there may be delays due to road closures.

We ask that all visitors follow the guidelines described in our Visitor Code of Conduct for an enriching experience.

Bluesfest, July 4 to 14, 2024

Ottawa Bluesfest will be held on LeBreton Flats from July 4 to 14, 2024.

During this period, the Canadian War Museum will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please see our hours of operation for more details.

The Museum’s underground parking will be closed and inaccessible on show nights. All vehicles must have left the parking as of 5 p.m.

May 11 to October 14, 2024

Please note the following street closure around the Canadian War Museum during the NCC Weekend Bikedays. The program will run from May 11 to October 14, 2024.

Both westbound lanes of the Kichi Zībī Mīkan, from Vimy Place to Carling Avenue, will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Police and volunteers will be stationed at intersections and have been instructed to let visitors through to access the Museum.

Parking at the Museum will be accessible to cars. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access the Museum without any significant delays during this period. We also encourage you to use public transportation.

Please allow for extra time to get to the Museum as delays may be caused by the street closure. The Museum will remain open for its regular hours of operation.
