Shingwaukonse

Shingwaukonse was a veteran of Tecumseh’s coalition and chief of the Anishnaabe of Garden River, located in Upper Canada, near Sault Ste. Marie, in present-day Ontario. He and other leaders used diplomacy to try to secure economic and political independence for their communities following the War of 1812.
